Despite adverse exchange rates, Lafarge's business is improving as construction demand returns.

Lafarge is one of the world's largest cement producers and a leading producer of aggregates and concrete. Demand for construction materials in the markets it serves will largely determine its earnings, but the downturn in construction activity in North America and Europe has wreaked havoc on profitability. However, growth should be restored once construction activity strengthens, and Lafarge's recent efforts on cost reductions and price increases should help boost earnings further.
